Ghent Day Trip

Begin the full day-tour to Ghent by boarding a bus at Brussels Central Station at 8:30 am. Ghent is Bruges’ biggest rival as the most fascinating destination in Belgium.

Upon arrival, follow your guide through the city center and marvel at the enormous Castle of Gerald the Devil (Geeraard de Duivelsteen), admire the world-famous painting “The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb” by the Van Eyck brothers housed in the Gothic-style St Bavo’s Cathedral and check out the 91-meter belfry (Belfort) and the Town Hall.

Afterwards, head to the oldest-standing buildings in Ghent: Saint Nicholas’ Church, the sixteenth century Masons’ Guild House, the small medieval Graslei port, the imposing Castle of the Counts of Flanders, the picturesque Patershol district and explore one of the city’s largest squares, the Friday Market Square.

Once you have a good idea of Ghent’s main landmarks, you will have approximately four hours to enjoy the city at your own leisure. You can enjoy a delicious traditional Belgian lunch by any of the city’s waterways and purchase souvenirs like Belgian chocolates.

Hop back on the bus to Brussels. You will get to the city centre at around 6 pm.
